Top Houston Hairstylist David Bamford stops by Great Day Houston to share their tips to look 10 pounds thinner without diet and exercise.
“It’s really about trying to get the perfect beautiful open shape of the face which is the main goal. To do that we add highlights, lowlights and shaping the hair to balance facial proportion.”
“As you can see on Hallie Berry this cut showcases her bone structure, the focus is on the eyes and cheeks and that is really what we are looking for.”
5 Ways to trim your look
BONE STRAIGHT
“Look at Gwyneth Paltrow“, says David Bamford, “Smoothing the hair down and giving it some vertical length always elongates the face. This highlights an oval face shape better.”
TEASE YOUR HAIR
“One of the latest textures of the season and its about getting the hair teased up with a backbrush and making the hair almost like cotton candy. Use this technique to give you some height at the crown to make the hairstyle shape around your face so it frames your face.”
David adds, “It doesn’t have to be smooth anymore. A modern soft look with some soft texture, it can be a little bit messy, it’s more youthful that way.”
USE COLOR – Color Me Pretty
David Bamford, “Hair is styled to open up the face. Then using color we add some lightness around the face and then it tapers back down again.
VOLUME – Pump up the Volume.
“Use your hands to push it out. It’s about creating nice hills and valleys. Sometimes, with a little bit of teasing or just using your hands, you can create a look.
“The next time you have your photo taken you just want to push it up and push around your face a little more make it wider around the eyes.”
THE RIGHT CUT
David Bamford, “The secret to any beautiful hairdo is an amazing haircut. You want to go to someone who you have a good communication with, someone who has the has the same vision. It’s like when you go to the dentist and you don’t say ‘pull my teeth out’. You want a stylist who can say actually no, we are going to do this for you… this is what is best for you and trust their skill level.”
Last month, Therapy held the Spring Blowdry Bootcamp to benefit Child Advocates, a Houston non-profit dedicated to representing and protecting children as they navigate through the foster care system in Harris county. Child Advocates mobilizes court appointed volunteers to break the vicious cycle of child abuse.
Therapy hair stylists donated their time and expertise to teach the techniques needed to create the perfect salon blow out at home.
Clients were served the beverage of their choice while the Therapy stylist, aka drill sergeant, demonstrated how to perform the steps using the clients own blow dryer, brush and hair products.
Once instructed, the client took charge of the blow dryer and brush and began to practice the techniques under the watchful eye of the stylist.
This allowed the stylist to pass along the tips and tricks that they use every day enabling the client to achieve a blowout on their own tailored for their hair type and the style they want to achieve.
Together we raised almost $1000 for Child Advocates. We were thrilled to donate our time to this great cause.
We want to Thank each and every one of our bootcampers for making a difference in a child’s life.
